Originally from India, or many other countries, the Indian costus, called "qust al hindi" in Arabic, is widely used in traditional medicine and more specifically in prophetic medicine.
Indeed, since many centuries, this plant is used for the treatment of many ailments such as:
- gastric disorders
- migraines
- pleurisy
- sexual weaknesses
- kidney and urinary diseases
- diseases of the respiratory system such as tuberculosis, asthma or sore throat
- problems related to menstruation, ovaries and other hormonal imbalances
- blood circulation problems
- postpartum pains
and for many other pathologies.
Usage tips:
In consumption:
It is advisable to mix the powdered Indian costus with water at a dosage of 1 in 10 before drinking. It can also be mixed with juice or honey.
In external application:
It is advisable to mix the costus indian powder with other oils such as olive oil or nigella oil for greater efficiency during massages. It is also used in compresses mixed with honey on external wounds such as burns, wounds, acne, or scalp conditions. However, we recommend using instead honeys with proven healing and anti-oxidant virtues such as Yemeni Sidr Honey Maliky, Thyme Honey or Manuka Honey.
Inhaling:
Mixed with water, it can be inhaled or sprayed orally or nasally.
Precautions for use:
Due to its allergenicity, it is advisable to make an allergy test by applying a small amount of powder at the place where the skin is thin, as inside the elbow or inside the wrist for example. It will be necessary to wait then 48h because the allergic reaction intervenes only after a certain lapse of time. If an immediate reaction occurs, it is not an allergy but most likely an irritation.
Also, this plant is not recommended for young children, pregnant or breastfeeding women.
